Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - Customer Case Study

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust worked with NHS Employers to improve induction for apprentices and other young starters. The trust identified that key information was not being communicated effectively at induction, and that a more tailored approach was needed to help new recruits feel welcome, understand expectations, and settle into their roles more confidently.

NHS Employers supported the trust in developing a five-day, youth-focused induction programme that combined corporate training with engaging activities, peer support, workplace tours, talks on pay and pensions, and a team-building day. The result was strong retention and fewer issues after start dates: all 13 apprentices in the first cohort and all 14 in the second cohort remained employed by the trust, with young staff seen as valued team members.
