Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust - Customer Case Study

Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest acute trusts in the UK, wanted to build a more inclusive workforce that better reflected its communities and gave underrepresented staff a voice. To support this goal, the trust worked with NHS Employers on its Staff Role Model campaign, designed to highlight staff who had overcome challenges and could inspire others.

NHS Employers helped the trust promote role models through storyboards, social media, the intranet and website, while also supporting recruitment messaging and LGBT awareness training delivered with Birmingham LGBT. The campaign achieved strong staff engagement, received support from Stonewall, and led to over 300 staff attending sexual orientation and trans awareness training, with many applying what they learned to improve working practices.
