George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, supported by NHS Employers, needed to improve staff flu vaccination uptake across a busy trust covering hospital, community, and TB services. Their challenge was to overcome low uptake, persistent myths about the flu vaccine, and difficulty reaching staff working off site or in hard-to-access areas.

NHS Employers helped the trust build a multidisciplinary campaign led by the #JabTeam Eliot flu team, using peer vaccinators, targeted drop-in sessions, walkabouts, social media, myth-busting communications, and jabathons. The approach lifted vaccination uptake from 52% in 2015/16 to 77.8% in 2016/17, while also improving engagement through team competition, awards, and visible leadership support.
