Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust - Customer Case Study

Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust worked with NHS Employers to tackle significant underrepresentation of BME communities in certain bands and roles. The trust also faced local concerns that the NHS recruitment process was culturally biased or discriminatory, which discouraged some people from applying.

NHS Employers supported the trust by delivering positive action in recruitment workshops, alongside community drop-in surgeries with voluntary organisations, to explain NHS jobs and the trust’s fair, transparent hiring process. As a result, over 60 people from BME communities received coaching and information, 20 BME applicants applied in a recruitment drive, and 6 of the successful applicants came from the BME community.
