A NHS Employers Case Study
5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, a mental health, learning disabilities and community health provider serving five boroughs in the North West, wanted to embed values-based recruitment across the organisation. Working with NHS Employers, the trust set out to strengthen hiring so that managers could assess candidates’ values as well as their technical skills.
NHS Employers supported the trust to develop and roll out values-based interview tools, train recruiting managers and service users in values-based interviewing, and involve “experts by experience” on interview panels. The approach has produced tailored tools for multiple staff groups, trained 70 staff so far, and improved the interview process, with candidates and managers reporting a more positive, person-focused experience.
