Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - Customer Case Study

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust partnered with NHS Employers on the Global Corporate Challenge (GCC), a health and wellbeing initiative. The trust's aim was to find a fun and engaging way to raise health awareness among its 3,600 staff and encourage positive, long-term lifestyle changes, with a key initial obstacle being the need to secure funding for the program.

NHS Employers helped implement the GCC, which equipped staff with pedometers to log their steps, provided a supportive online platform, and supplied a tailored communications toolkit. The initiative was a major success: 72 teams participated, achieving a collective weight loss of 1,000kg and the trust became the fourth highest performing health organization in the challenge globally. This project, delivered by NHS Employers, also became one of the trust's most successful employee engagement initiatives, creating a significant positive buzz throughout the organization.
