Birmingham Children's Hospital - Customer Case Study

Following the Francis Inquiry, Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH) identified a critical need to enhance teamwork and compassion in care. The customer sought to address this by focusing on staff engagement and leadership development, partnering with the vendor NHS Employers to implement their insights and programs.

The solution implemented by NHS Employers was centered around a dedicated engagement week and a new program called Team Maker. This involved interactive workshops and a two-day facilitated program for managers based on research by Professor Michael West. The results included the development of practical tools for leaders, the launch of mentoring schemes, and a visible increase in staff participation. NHS Employers helped BCH create a sustainable model for gathering staff feedback and building a more cohesive team environment.
