Barts Health NHS Foundation Trust - Customer Case Study

Barts Health NHS Foundation Trust, working with NHS Employers through the Project SEARCH supported internship programme, wanted to create better employment opportunities for young people with learning disabilities. The trust was looking for a way to help interns build skills, gain confidence and move into meaningful paid work, while also improving inclusion across its hospital sites.

NHS Employers supported Barts Health NHS Foundation Trust to implement Project SEARCH with one-to-one job coaches, tutors, mentors and structured work placements across the trust. The programme has completed 85 interns so far, with 46 securing employment and around 60% moving into paid work, including 35% within Barts Health or its contractors. The initiative has also improved confidence, independence and job readiness for participants, demonstrating clear social and employment impact.
