Alder Hey Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation trust - Customer Case Study

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, a large paediatric hospital caring for over 270,000 children a year and employing nearly 3,000 staff, wanted to improve flu vaccination uptake across its workforce. With support from NHS Employers’ Flu Fighter campaign, the trust worked to overcome low uptake and encourage more staff to get vaccinated.

NHS Employers helped Alder Hey build a balanced flu team, use targeted communications, deploy peer vaccinators, and make vaccinations more accessible across hospital and community sites. The trust also used myth-busting emails, child-friendly rewards, and senior leadership advocacy, resulting in flu jab uptake rising from 68% to 78% in 2015/16.
