The Herdenkings Comité Slavernijverleden (hcsv) in Curaçao faced the challenge of retelling the history of slavery from the perspective of those who lived it, moving beyond the common imagery of oppression and chains. They sought to create a public timeline of short films accessible via QR codes on artworks, rather than through traditional books or lectures. Ngrane was engaged to produce these films using AI video tools.

Ngrane produced eleven historically accurate AI films, working closely with historians to ensure authenticity, transparency, and dignity in the portrayal of events and heroes. The solution involved meticulous research, the creation of character and location reference sheets to maintain consistency, and a defined cinematic style. The resulting films, voiced in Papiamentu and English, are now accessible at the hcsv headquarters and on the streets of Otrobanda via an audio guide, successfully providing a new, empowering visual narrative for the next generation.
