A NGINX Case Study
Buydig.com, a consumer-electronics e‑retailer founded in 2000 in Edison, NJ, faced slowdowns and outages as traffic grew—especially during peak shopping seasons—and was also hit by DDoS attacks. Its legacy IIS/SQL setup couldn’t scale or protect the backend, so the team needed an easy-to-configure frontend that would speed page delivery, shield servers and the database, and allow fault-tolerant scaling without changing application code.
Buydig.com deployed NGINX Plus on AWS (RHEL7) as a frontend load balancer and reverse proxy to handle HTTP/HTTPS, using connection pooling, health checks, TLS SNI, rate limiting and unified logging. The result was dramatically improved uptime and performance, reduced backend load, better DDoS protection and PCI-compliant logging, plus easier maintenance and reliable handling of peak traffic.
