Handling Thousands of Upstream Requests with Minimal Latency

MuleSoft, a San Francisco–based provider of the Anypoint integration platform, runs its cloud runtime on AWS where customers deploy apps on virtual workers. Faced with limited visibility into customers’ upstream configurations and frequent changes, MuleSoft needed better monitoring, configuration flexibility, and dynamic control to meet diverse performance and availability requirements.

MuleSoft implemented NGINX Plus to replace its open-source proxy, gaining advanced load balancing, observability, and support. The deployment handled high volumes of upstream requests with minimal latency, required no new hardware, enabled seamless upgrades and session persistence, simplified end‑to‑end SSL, reduced operational time and costs, and was expanded across the Anypoint Platform—allowing MuleSoft to scale, increase APIs, and respond faster to customers.
