A NGINX Case Study

Gogo Taps NGINX Plus to Serve All Inflight Internet Customers

Gogo, the leading provider of in‑flight broadband for thousands of commercial and business aircraft, faced growing complexity in its payment portals: separate portals for different contexts (airport, in‑flight, etc.) required repeated deployments, tangled transaction logic, and delivered inconsistent customer experiences as the business scaled.

Gogo consolidated those portals into a unified purchase path using NGINX Plus as an SSL‑terminating, Layer‑7 load balancer and frontend layer. The new solution went from beta to production in under two days, reduced infrastructure from 27 servers to a single primary server with additional NGINX Plus instances for HA, now handles over 90% of revenue with near‑100% uptime, lowered operational complexity and costs, and allowed the team to focus on innovation with expert support from NGINX.
