A NGINX Case Study
ARM, a Cambridge-based leader in energy-efficient processor IP, needed to prove that ARM-based servers could deliver both greener data centers and enterprise-grade application delivery. For an EU-funded energy-efficiency study and a parallel proof-of-concept to migrate a critical customer-facing application off x86, the company required advanced end-to-end logging, monitoring, and robust load balancing to demonstrate real-world performance and low power consumption.
ARM deployed open source NGINX for log-driven monitoring and NGINX Plus as the enterprise load balancer, cache, and live-activity dashboard across HPE Moonshot m400 cartridges running Ubuntu. The solution enabled native ARM support, low resource use, strong performance and reliability in production (two chassis handled the workload with HA), and real-time visibility for early problem detection—allowing ARM to move the critical application off x86 while demonstrating improved energy efficiency and operational flexibility.
