A NGC Software Case Study
VF Corporation, the world’s largest apparel company with more than 30 brands, $11 billion in annual sales and products sold in over 150 countries, needed a strategic, scalable global sourcing and supply chain management system to support rapid worldwide growth, multiple brands and the integration of acquired companies. The company outgrew its homegrown Lotus-Notes tracking system and required a robust web-based system of record to manage hundreds of millions — and eventually billions — of dollars in sourced manufacturing while improving quality and vendor management.
In 2003 VF selected NGC’s e-SPS Global Sourcing and SCM solution as its enterprise platform. NGC centralized PO and vendor data across brands, absorbed feeds from acquired companies, added integrated quality-audit and vendor report-card capabilities, and enabled paperless transactions and EDI connectivity. The result was tighter control of production and shipments, consolidated vendor performance metrics, streamlined logistics and payment processing, measurable cost savings and sustained supply chain excellence as VF continued to grow.
