Case Study: Minot Police Department achieves streamlined, scalable records-request processing with NextRequest

A NextRequest Case Study

Preview of the Minot Police Department Case Study

How this PD overhauled their records requests process

Minot Police Department faced a rapidly growing workload—requests rose 20–30% over three years and came in by fax, mail, phone and in person—while records were tracked only in a spreadsheet and requests were increasingly lost or forgotten. To better track, fulfill, and manage public records/FOIA requests the department turned to NextRequest’s FOIA/request management platform.

NextRequest implemented its portal and tracking tools, enabling Minot PD to process a high volume of requests while keeping up with other duties and digitizing older files. The platform helped the department handle an estimated 3,000 requests in 2019, add 6,017 documents to the portal, and record 4,023 document downloads, allowing staff to provide faster, more secure service and avoid being overwhelmed by the increased demand.
