Las Cruces, New Mexico, the state’s second-largest city with about 100,000 residents, faced a surge in public records activity—IPRA requests rose 30% from 2018 to 2019—and relied on Excel, snail mail and email to track requests. To gain better tracking and reporting, Las Cruces turned to NextRequest’s records request software.
NextRequest implemented a centralized, searchable portal that consolidated requests and correspondence, helping staff respond faster (including more efficiently handling Attorney General complaints). With NextRequest the city processed 1,100 records requests in 2019, uploaded 34,197 documents and saw 47,996 document downloads, streamlining their records request workflow.
