SunEdison worked with Nextracker on the Javiera solar project in Chile’s Atacama Desert, a remote and extremely dry site where building a 69 MW utility-scale plant posed major installation challenges. The project was designed to supply clean renewable power to one of the world’s largest copper producers.

Nextracker provided its tracking solution and collaborated with SunEdison to apply lean construction methods, reduce site preparation, and simplify installation. The result was faster deployment and commissioning, with measurable savings of 123 miles of copper grounding wire and 5,776 labor hours, along with improved ground cover ratio and minimal site grading.
