Case Study: Mustakbal achieves reliable desert solar power with Nextracker NX Horizon

Solar Tracking Boosts Commerical and Industrial (C&I) Applications in Middle East

Mustakbal Clean Tech partnered with Nextracker to support two distributed solar projects in Jordan for Kempinski Ishtar Hotel and Al Khalidi Medical Center. The customer needed reliable electricity in a challenging desert environment with extreme temperatures, high winds, sandstorms, snow, and difficult terrain, while also reducing dependence on imported power. Nextracker’s NX Horizon single-axis tracker was selected to help maximize energy production.

Nextracker deployed 7 MW of its NX Horizon self-powered trackers across the two sites, including 5 MW at Kempinski Ishtar Hotel and 2.1 MW at KMC. The solution was designed for desert conditions, with sealed components for dust protection, slope tolerance, and battery backup for intermittency. The projects are expected to generate about 21,000 MWh of solar electricity annually and provide significant cost savings and cleaner, more reliable power for the off-takers.
