Nextracker Uses Speed and Smarts to Help Build Largest Solar Power Plant in the Americas

Swinerton Renewable Energy partnered with Nextracker to help build the 828 MWDC Villanueva solar power plant in Coahuila, Mexico, one of the largest solar projects in the Americas. The customer faced major challenges around large-scale logistics, site construction, and safety in extreme desert conditions, including moving thousands of containers and coordinating hundreds of daily workers across a massive site.

Nextracker supplied its NX Horizon smart solar tracker system with NX Data Hub monitoring and control capabilities, along with local manufacturing support and ongoing services. The solution enabled rapid installation, sequential commissioning, and strong safety performance, helping the project reach 5 million man-hours with zero accidents, install 20,430 panels in a single day, and begin generating power nine months ahead of schedule while offsetting more than a million tons of carbon emissions annually.
