Case Study: Globeleq achieves 44,500 tons of annual CO2 savings with Nextracker NX Horizon trackers

A Nextracker Case Study

Preview of the Globeleq Case Study

Globeleq - Customer Case Study

Globeleq, through its Malindi Solar project in Kenya, faced the challenge of building one of East Africa’s first large-scale coastal solar farms in a setting with limited local solar expertise, scarce tooling and materials, difficult compliance requirements, delayed grid interconnection, high winds, and rocky soil. Nextracker supplied NX Horizon solar trackers for the 52 MW-DC/40 MW-AC project to help address these conditions.

Nextracker managed the project with careful planning, local installer training, and remote support, while adapting the foundation design mid-construction to use concrete-encased foundations after soil testing showed rocky conditions. The project reached completion without delaying commissioning, now delivers clean electricity to Kenya Power under a long-term PPA, avoids 44,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually, and created hundreds of direct jobs plus thousands more in secondary economic impact.
