Case Study: Cytec achieves secure, export-controlled collaboration with NextLabs

Cytec Industries, a specialty chemicals and materials company, needed to replace a labor-intensive manual document control process with a more scalable collaboration environment for its Engineered Materials Division. Working with NextLabs, the company had to ensure that Microsoft SharePoint-based sharing of export-controlled technical data complied with ITAR and EAR while preventing access by non-U.S. foreign nationals and protecting sensitive information from misuse.

NextLabs implemented its Export Control for Technical Data solution, including SharePoint policy controls, Windows Desktop Enforcer, and Outlook Enforcer, to restrict access by identity and location, encrypt downloaded files, and block printing, copying, emailing, USB transfers, and other sharing risks. As a result, Cytec was able to move to controlled, collaborative document sharing while maintaining export compliance, improving auditing and monitoring, and enabling faster secure collaboration with employees, customers, and partners.
