BAE Systems, a global defense, security, and aerospace company, needed to improve collaboration across more than 50,000 SharePoint users while meeting strict export-control and IP protection requirements. The company wanted to automate site provisioning, document classification, approval workflows, and access control to reduce IT overhead and keep sensitive technical data available only to authorized users. NextLabs provided the data-centric security and policy management platform used in the case study.

BAE Systems implemented NextLabs Control Center and NextLabs Entitlement Manager for Microsoft SharePoint to automatically classify shared documents, centrally manage authorization policies, and enforce access based on content, identity, and location. The solution also automated approvals, monitoring, and compliance reporting, and was deployed to more than 50,000 users in about six months. As a result, BAE Systems cut end-user wait times from hours to minutes, reduced IT administration costs, and lowered the manpower and risk associated with export compliance.
