Wheeler Clinic is a nonprofit, multi-site behavioral health provider in Connecticut that serves underserved populations and employs hundreds of clinicians. Leadership discovered many behavioral health patients lacked primary care and decided to expand select sites into Federally Qualified Health Centers, but their behavioral-health-specific EHR could not support the new specialties, scheduling models and data needs required for integrated care.

After evaluating vendors, Wheeler implemented NextGen Enterprise (EHR and PM) for its flexible data collection, customizable templates, service delineation and group scheduling capabilities. The solution enabled three FQHC sites combining primary care, dental and other services with behavioral health, expanded access to more than 30,000 patients statewide, and positioned Wheeler as Connecticut’s most comprehensive nonprofit provider of primary and behavioral health.
