Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists Improve Patient Care Through Integration and Automation

Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists (VCS) is the largest cardiology practice in central Virginia, with eight locations, a new ambulatory surgical center and 38 physicians. Faced with MACRA’s electronic record requirements and a legacy paper-based workflow, VCS evaluated multiple vendors for a cardiology-focused solution and selected NextGen to modernize clinical and practice-management operations.

VCS implemented NextGen Enterprise EHR and Practice Management (with integrated automation and interoperability tools), automating charge capture, billing/claims, e-faxing and documentation workflows and integrating cardiology-specific templates. The changes reduced manual work, freed staff for patient-facing duties, improved provider satisfaction and retention, streamlined data management and revenue processes, and helped VCS remain an independent, scalable cardiology practice.
