Ophthalmology practice sees improved patient engagement and efficiencies across multiple practices

Central Florida Retina (CFR) is a six-location ophthalmology practice in Central Florida specializing in retina and vitreous diseases for patients 50 and older. Because most of its patients are elderly and not highly computer‑literate, CFR struggled to track care, ensure appointment and medication adherence, and coordinate staffing and outreach across multiple offices.

CFR implemented an integrated NextGen solution—ambulatory EHR, practice management, population health, patient portal and NextPen—to automate reminders and centralize patient data. The practice improved patient tracking and engagement, re-engaged 43 patients through outreach, increased appointment compliance, streamlined cross-office oversight, and gave clinicians faster remote access to records, boosting efficiency and care quality.
