Neurosurgery Practice Enhances Data Access and Reporting while Enabling Positive Growth

Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates (CNSA) is a large, multi-office neurosurgical practice serving North and South Carolina with 18 neurosurgeons, 5 physiatrists, 19 mid‑level providers and physical therapy staff. As the practice grew, capturing patient data and producing useful, actionable reports became time-consuming and costly, and paper charts and disparate systems hampered scheduling, documentation, and revenue tracking.

CNSA implemented NextGen EPM (2004), NextGen EHR (2005), an Image Control System and dictation interfaces to consolidate records and automate workflows. The result: paper charts were phased out, access to patient data and specialty templates improved, A/R days fell from 54.26 to 38.94, administrative FTEs were reduced, revenue increased while staffing stayed flat despite clinical growth, and reporting, scheduling and triage became faster and more accurate.
