A NextGen Healthcare Case Study
Texas Retina Associates, the largest retina-focused ophthalmology practice in Texas with 13 offices and about 100,000 annual visits, needed to boost clinical efficiency, strengthen provider–patient relationships, support a large clinical research program, and adapt to changing reimbursement rules. Leadership aimed to re-engineer staff roles and eliminate paper records so providers could spend more time in direct patient care.
By expanding NextGen Ambulatory EHR and NextGen Practice Management, the practice went fully electronic, retrained staff into patient-facing scribe roles, and integrated clinical and administrative workflows. The result: more than a 20% increase in patient visits, decreased A/R days and denial rates, faster research data access (from months to days or hours), and improved provider face time and patient satisfaction.
