Increase Patient Engagement to Adapt to Change and Achieve Better Results

FPA Women’s Health is one of California’s largest independent women’s health providers, operating 25 clinics with 40+ providers and serving over 150,000 patients annually—many aged 18–35 who prefer mobile-first care. The challenge was to maximize technology to provide immediate access and streamline workflows: early telehealth adoption exposed gaps from a partially integrated scheduling vendor that caused duplicate charts and operational friction.

FPA implemented NextGen Virtual Visits (launched Dec 2019) and NextGen Patient Self‑Scheduling (June 2020) with full EHR integration, resolving duplication issues and giving providers easy access to patient data. The result: thousands of virtual visits monthly (tripling during the pandemic), 5,000+ online appointments a month, an 84 Net Promoter Score for virtual care, fuller provider schedules, and expansion into virtual behavioral health and cross‑clinic scheduling to reach more patients.
