Crystal Run Healthcare Strengthens Bottom Line

Crystal Run Healthcare, a multi-specialty practice of more than 400 physicians across 20 Hudson Valley locations, faced a labor-intensive revenue cycle challenge: daily charges from thousands of patient encounters required 35 charge-entry staff to manually review scrubber reports, attach codes and modifiers, and prepare clean claims—a process that could take days and was driving plans to hire more reviewers.

By implementing NextGen® Charge Review Rules Engine integrated with NextGen® Enterprise PM, Crystal Run automated the majority of charge edits and corrections, eliminated the external claims scrubber and manual code attachment, and streamlined after-hours processing. Results included a drop in time to produce a clean claim from 1.3 days to 0.5 days, redeployment of ten billing staff to insurance follow-up (avoiding five new hires), smoother system performance and improved cash flow.
