The Chesapeake Regional Information System for our Patients (CRISP) is Maryland and DC’s health information exchange, connecting 53 hospitals to help clinicians share EHR data and improve care. CRISP needed a scalable, open, customizable HIE that would support ongoing expansion and innovation while keeping total cost of ownership manageable.
CRISP implemented Mirth Connect and Mirth Results, completing migration in about four months by gradually validating and moving data. The open, flexible solution scaled to thousands of daily requests, doubled users in seven months with no downtime, tripled the pace of new sign-ups from clinician word-of-mouth, doubled queries in one month, and enabled a combined prescription monitoring and clinical documentation program—delivering rapid growth, cost efficiency, and easy expansion.
