A NextGen Healthcare Case Study
Community Health Center of Snohomish County (founded 1983) operates nine clinics in Snohomish County, WA, serving about 70,000 patients with medical, behavioral health, dental, pharmacy and physical therapy services. After briefly switching vendors, the health center experienced declining provider productivity, cumbersome quality documentation that cost an estimated $2 million a year, and roughly $1 million in billing leakage—forcing staff into manual Excel workflows and costly data extraction that threatened plans to expand access and open more clinics.
After vetting two finalists, Snohomish returned to NextGen Healthcare for its stronger quality reporting and integrated platform, which is projected to save about $4 million over five years. With NextGen’s unified data and tools, the center now has simpler quality reporting, better decision-making, reduced yield loss, alignment between clinical and IT leadership, and a path to expand behavioral health and grow revenue from $70 million to $100 million over five years.
