CareMount Medical Evolves into Integrated Virtual Care

CareMount Medical, the largest independent multi‑specialty group in New York with over 45 locations, 650+ providers and 665,000 patients, faced a rapid telehealth pivot when COVID‑19 hit. Their early telehealth setup was slow, required patients to download an app and re‑enter registration data, and was not integrated with the EHR—creating substantial administrative overhead, long appointment prep times and heavy staff involvement just as demand spiked.

CareMount implemented NextGen Virtual Visits, a web‑based, EHR‑integrated platform that eliminated the app/registration barrier and streamlined scheduling and documentation. The change was implemented rapidly (650 providers converted in two weeks; 250+ trained in days), cut appointment prep from ~20 to 5 minutes, supported peaks of ~1,500 virtual visits/day and now sustains about 500/day, allowing the group to dismantle its temporary communication center, improve workflows, expand virtual urgent care and advance its value‑based care goals.
