CareMax Medical Centers is a multispecialty Medicare Advantage provider serving seniors at eight locations across Miami and Fort Lauderdale. When COVID-19 made in-person care unsafe for a high-risk, chronically ill patient population, CareMax needed a quick way to maintain regular monitoring and avoid hospitalizations while minimizing exposure for patients and staff.

CareMax implemented NextGen Virtual Visits integrated with its Enterprise EHR, standing up virtual care workflows in a day and getting 100% of providers on board by the second day. Combined with home tablet delivery for patients, the telehealth program increased provider capacity (from about 12 to 20 visits per day), improved access and continuity of care, reduced infection risk, and established a lasting, efficient channel for patient engagement.
