Capital Women’s Care Minimizes COVID-19 Impact with Virtual Visits

Capital Women’s Care is a private OB/GYN practice with 78 locations across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia and more than 272 clinicians. When COVID-19 hit, the practice saw a 30–40% drop in in-person visits and needed a way to maintain access to obstetric and gynecologic care while keeping patients and staff safe.

Capital Women’s Care rapidly scaled NextGen Virtual Visits—integrated with its EHR and PM—to 204 providers in two weeks, supported by provider training and patient “quick start” guides. Between March 13 and May 31 they completed 11.5K appointments, with roughly 10% delivered virtually; the integrated solution reduced phone-tag, preserved revenue capture and workflows, enabled obstetric and other visit types remotely, and allowed clinicians to read critical nonverbal cues.
