A Nextech AR Case Study
Ryerson University, a large, career‑oriented Canadian university, faced the COVID‑19 challenge of keeping lab‑based STEM learning active and effective for thousands of students. To bridge the gap between theory and hands‑on practice, Ryerson partnered with Nextech AR, adopting Nextech AR’s InfernoAR platform and the ARitize mobile app to deliver augmented reality remote labs.
Nextech AR worked with Ryerson faculty and students to design an immersive, collaborative AR lab environment that runs 24/7, supports assessments, live and on‑demand video, and downloadable resources, and scales to enable over 5,000 first‑year Chemistry, Biology and Physics students across Fall and Winter terms. The solution provided a secure, borderless “simuli‑hands‑on” experience that met course requirements, improved access and continuity of practical learning, and delivered measurable impact in reach (5,000+ students) and availability (24/7).
