Case Study: SIB modernizes school file sharing and collaboration with Nextcloud

SIB, a major global public actor providing digital services for the healthcare and public sector, faced the challenge of modernizing its legacy file system for schools. They required a solution with robust remote access, multi-device compatibility, and advanced collaboration features that could be hosted on-premise to ensure data security and GDPR compliance. To meet these needs, they partnered with Nextcloud to implement its file sharing and collaboration platform.

Nextcloud provided a scalable, on-premise solution that integrated seamlessly with SIB's existing Ceph storage. The deployment, which utilized advanced Group Folders and Collabora Online for document editing, was initially rolled out to 21 schools and approximately 12,000 users. The solution was met with great enthusiasm for its user-friendliness and collaborative features, successfully supporting up to 250 simultaneous users during the Covid crisis. The successful partnership with Nextcloud has set the foundation for SIB's plan to scale the platform to 40,000 users across 57 schools.
