How Nextcloud Hub signi!cantly improves convenience for students and faculty

Meiji University, a prominent Japanese educational institution, faced challenges with its aging campus storage system, which was not user-friendly and lacked the ability to support file sharing with external collaborators or the sending of large files. To modernize its Education and Research System and meet growing demands, the university required a robust, versatile, and secure storage infrastructure. They turned to vendor Nextcloud and its Nextcloud Hub platform to address these needs.

The solution, implemented with the support of partner Stylez, provided secure, on-premises online storage accessible via web browsers and smartphone apps. This enabled easy file sharing for users on and off campus, supported BYOD, and significantly improved convenience for students and faculty. By choosing Nextcloud's open-source solution, Meiji University reduced operational costs, avoided vendor lock-in, and built a future-proof storage portal. The project successfully created an integrated authentication, network, and storage infrastructure, positioning the university for stable operations and future data-driven initiatives.
