The City of Geneva, a Swiss municipal government with 4,500 employees, needed to replace its outdated file-sharing systems with a modern platform to enable secure internal and external collaboration. Key challenges included the requirement to keep all data within Switzerland for compliance, ensure high security, avoid vendor lock-in, and maintain control over its information infrastructure.

The city implemented Nextcloud Files to create a sovereign, on-premises private cloud. The solution, which successfully passed a third-party security audit, hosts over 1.2 TB of data for 2,200 active users.
