Health Group Answers the Growth of Digital Medical Imaging with High-Density Storage

Worcestershire Health IT Services (WHITS), the shared IT center supporting healthcare organisations across the NHS in Worcestershire, needed a storage platform that could keep up with rapidly growing digital medical imaging and patient data. With around 400TB of storage, 250 servers, and a requirement for 99.999% availability in a 24x7 clinical environment, WHITS turned to Nexsan for scalable, reliable, high-density storage.

Using Nexsan Beast and Boy SAN systems and later the Nexsan E18 from the E-Series, WHITS built a storage virtualisation environment that could pool and allocate capacity flexibly while supporting both archive and production workloads. Nexsan delivered the performance and reliability WHITS needed, with the team now using it for Oracle production data as well as bulk storage, and praising its density, ease of use, and SAS-to-host performance that rivals Fibre Channel.
