Coaps at Fsu Selects Nexsan Hybrid Storage For Performance, Reliability, and Capacity

The Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies (COAPS) at Florida State University needed a reliable, high-density storage platform that could scale with a growing global ocean forecasting project. Working with Nexsan and LH Computer Services, COAPS sought a solution that could support more than 1,000 users, limited data center space, NFS interoperability, and strong performance at a low total cost of ownership.

COAPS selected Nexsan’s NST hybrid storage system, starting with about 250TB and scaling to more than 1PB in a single rack. Nexsan’s FASTier caching helped maintain performance as usage grew, and the environment has delivered 99.99% uptime with negligible downtime since deployment. The system now supports more than 1.2PB of data streamed annually, improving ROI, reducing operating costs, and prompting other FSU units to consider Nexsan for their own storage needs.
