Hackensack Radiology Group, a leading regional provider of diagnostic and interventional radiology services in Northern New Jersey, needed a storage platform that could keep pace with rapidly growing medical imaging files while supporting fast retrieval, HIPAA compliance, long-term retention, and disaster recovery. As image sizes increased from mammography to 128-slice CT studies, the group turned to Nexsan to help improve its primary image cache and archive infrastructure.

Nexsan implemented a multi-tier solution using Nexsan Edge NAS with a SATABoy for primary image caching and two Nexsan Assureon systems for long-term archive. The result was sub-second access to up to a year of images, automated replication between sites for business continuity, and self-healing archive protection for compliance and data integrity. Nexsan also helped Hackensack Radiology Group reduce footprint and power use, with Assureon delivering high-density storage and using about 50% of the power of leading disc storage vendors.
