Zend PHP, a leading developer and supporter of the PHP ecosystem, needed substantially more IOPS (about 15,000) and simpler storage management to run 100+ virtual machines for testing. Its legacy EMC storage was nearing end of life, costly to operate and expand, hard to administer, and unable to meet performance, snapshot and VMware/CIFS integration requirements.

Zend deployed NexentaStor 3.0 (ZFS-based) as a turnkey solution in about two hours, using a SAS+SSD configuration. The rollout delivered the required performance and scalability, enabled hundreds of VMs, simplified management from a single console, supported unlimited snapshots and DR replication, completed migration in under six hours, and yielded over 50% cost savings versus legacy options.
