Vigilant Keeps Its Cool – and Improves Its IT System Reliability – with Nexenta Solutions

Vigilant, a West Coast legal services firm with more than 50 years of experience advising employers across the Northwest and California, was hampered by aging servers and RAID arrays that overheated, caused frequent downtime, and constrained growth as new services were added. The firm needed to virtualize physical servers, replace legacy server/storage/network hardware, and address data retention and cost pressures without costly building upgrades.

Working with partner Nordisk, Vigilant deployed a NexentaStor-based HA cluster (Nordisk NorStor NS2000) on an ESXi/HP platform to consolidate and virtualize infrastructure. The solution used snapshot replication, software RAID and inline deduplication to speed restores, protect data, lower power and cooling needs, and simplify compliance; the result was higher system reliability, reduced downtime, and significant cost and energy savings compared with traditional storage.
