North Devon Homes, a not-for-profit housing association that manages 3,281 homes and employs 130 staff, needed a more resilient, scalable storage platform after a day-and-a-half outage exposed weaknesses in its direct-attached virtualized environment. The organization required improved data access and recovery, better performance, and lower-cost scalability to meet growing data-retention and auditing requirements.

Working with VA Technologies, North Devon Homes deployed a NexentaStor MetroHA clustered 16TB solution with two iSCSI SANs (primary and remote DR) and Microsoft clustered Hyper-V on existing Dell servers. The software-defined storage delivers thousands of hourly snapshots, deduplication and thin provisioning, cutting recovery time to about one hour, reducing costs by roughly 75% versus rival proposals and significantly lowering IT management overhead.
