Nexenta Software-Defined Storage Gives Walton Electric a Burst of Energy

Walton Electric, a large customer-owned utility serving more than 122,000 customers in northeast Georgia, faced a tight IT budget and a small six-person IT team. After beginning server virtualization with VMware, Walton needed an affordable, high-performance storage solution that integrated seamlessly with VMware and fit its fiduciary responsibility to members.

Walton deployed NexentaStor with Nexsan hardware as a software-defined storage solution. In production since 2007, the 48 TB system delivered strong performance, lower TCO, minimal administration (running at about 70% capacity after seven years), easy scalability, and responsive support—freeing the small IT staff to focus on other priorities.
