A Nexenta Case Study
City Clinic, a leading Bulgarian healthcare provider with 500 staff and major facilities in Varna and Sofia, needed a technology showcase to differentiate its hospitals but found its proprietary storage unable to deliver the required performance, scalability or cost-efficiency. The clinic also sought a virtual desktop infrastructure for about 400 doctors, wanted to avoid vendor lock‑in, and required a resilient solution that supported easy management and disaster recovery across its Bulgarian and Strasbourg data centers.
Working with AOSSIA, City Clinic deployed NexentaStor HA clusters and NexentaConnect for VMware Horizon View, using hybrid SSD/HDD pools and multi-site clustering to provide high availability, fast I/O and simplified management. The result was a stable, easy-to-manage VDI that supports more desktops per configuration, cuts cost and storage needs, offers automatic/manual recovery (with non‑IT activation), lets admins profile deployments before go‑live, and produced up to 38x performance improvements during I/O storms.
