NetNordic Avoids Vendor Lock-In and Reduces Cost with Nexenta

NetNordic, a Stockholm-based systems integrator providing networking and cloud services across the Nordics, was facing rapid growth and a failing legacy storage system that caused high latency and occasional ESX freezes. As capacity approached limits, the in-house solution became costly and unreliable, prompting a search for a scalable, vendor-agnostic alternative.

NetNordic deployed NexentaStor as a software-defined storage solution on a Dell-based HA cluster, using features like ZFS compression, snapshots, ZeusRAM, ARC and L2ARC caching. The result was a 3 ms reduction in write latency, roughly 1 TB of space saved through compression, elimination of latency spikes that caused ESX to freeze, improved uptime and consistent performance, and lower overall costs with efficiency gains passed on to customers.
