Keep the Music Coming: INgrooves, a Fast-Growing Digital Music Company, Scales Up with Nexenta

INgrooves, a fast-growing digital distribution and marketing company serving hundreds of independent labels and thousands of artists via its ONE Digital platform and partners like iTunes and Spotify, faced rapidly rising storage needs—nothing is ever deleted—and found expanding its existing system prohibitively expensive and complex due to space, power and connector constraints. The company needed a cost-effective, scalable storage solution that could grow a few terabytes at a time and provide reliable disaster recovery.

INgrooves deployed Silicon Mechanics’ zStax appliances powered by NexentaStor HA clusters (on Intel Xeon), first in a POC and then across production and a Dallas-based DR site, achieving more than 600 TB of usable storage. The solution delivered roughly 3× the storage in the same rack space, cut equipment and installation costs by about 70%, reduced power requirements, offered simple web-based management and included replication for DR—enabling indefinite, low-cost scalability.
