A Nexenta Case Study
Peak 10, a national provider of secure cloud, colocation and managed services, needed to refresh the HDD-based storage behind its Recovery Cloud (DRaaS) because growing data volumes and variable performance threatened its SLAs and operational efficiency. The company’s goals were predictable low-latency performance, nondisruptive scale to multi-petabyte capacity, easier integration with automation and APIs, and lower total cost of ownership.
Peak 10 deployed NexentaStor (software‑defined unified block/file storage) on SanDisk/Western Digital InfiniFlash, achieving consistent 1–2ms latencies versus 5–20ms on spinning disk, shrinking rack footprint by >90% and energy use by 75%, and cutting projected 3‑year TCO by about 35%. Integration time into automated workflows fell from days to under a day, reliability and rebuild times improved, and the company has expanded the platform with another 1PB and plans to migrate more workloads to the flash/SDS environment.
